Anyone who is connected with the food industry will list several ways with which a business can work more effectively. Modernization is one of them. Healthy food with natural products is the world trend

The main directions of the development of the food industry were clarified during the exhibition. They are conditioned by the realities of human life on a global scale.

The increase in obesity and in diseases caused by unhealthy diet, such as diabetes and some cancers, are the two most important reasons why consumers require more healthy food. On a global scale, population growth and urbanization are also increasing.

The purchasing power of consumers is growing, as is their standard of living, which allows them to focus on a healthier and more regular life-style. Another important factor is the growth of vegetarianism among many inhabitants of the world.

Absolutely all exhibitors were interested in natural products. For example, the Italian company Chimab, a distributor of ingredients and a manufacturer of mixtures for meat products, ice cream and bakery industries, announced that it is investing in research and development focused on natural products with a clean or «green» label.

Esarom - an Austrian company known for creating flavourings, compounds and emulsions, claims that there is an active interest in natural food products and that we are going back to our «roots». The company noticed that all trendy restaurants in Austria use only natural herbs, roots, fruits etc. as dressings and flavourings.

Anuga found another clear trend - reducing the use of sugar. It is assumed that the natural sugar substitute, which is extracted from the leaves of Stevia rebaudiana plants, will account for up to 15% of the world market of sweeteners and confectionery by 2020.
